Gertrude J. Young, wife of the late Milton Young, died August 3 at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Mrs. Young resided in West Orange and graduated from West Orange High School and then Montclair State University in 1938. Her other residences included 26 years in Bridgewater and 30 years in Whiting (Crestwood Village) NJ before moving back to Bridgewater in 2010. She retired in 1980 as a Social Studies Teacher from the Hillside School, Bridgewater-Raritan School District, after 13 years as an educator. Mrs. Young was a member of the Eastern Star and former member of the Community Reformed Church in Whiting and had been the organist for the Martinsville Methodist Church for many years while living in Bridgewater. Surviving are her daughters Linda Woolley (husband William) of Readington and Laraine Muller (husband Russell) of West Orange, a dear sister-in-law Lauretta Johnson of Bridgewater and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Serice will be held 11am on Wednesday, August 8 at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 on Wednesday morning prior to Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Jersey Eastern Star Home, 111 Finderne Ave., Bridgewater, NJ 08807 in her memory.
